I love browsing LinkedIn and seeing all the familiar faces of clients using images we created especially for LinkedIn. Last week I received a call from Victoria Watkins for just this purpose. We had a quick chat and she explained that the majority of people she does business with will only see what she looks like through her online image. We discussed the feeling of her image as friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
We confirmed a good date for the shoot and then Victoria went to work with my 3 tips:
1. Dress the Part. Stay away from contrasty patterns and bold stripes. Focus on jewel tones (Ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green, amethyst purple and turquoise blue) or light patterns that work well with your coloring. Hold the item under your chin and have a look in the mirror to check if it works for you. Make sure your wardrobe is free of stains and dry cleaned. Bring a variety of jewelry and don’t worry about shoes!
2. Have your hair and make up done by a professional. I’ll give you a number of options for your budget.
3. Get clear. We’re collaborating on these images, let’s discuss the message we want these images to convey.
Victoria came ready to go on the day of the shoot, her hair and make-up was professionally done and she brought a fantastic variety of wardrobe that we edited when she arrived.
Here is the image Victoria chose for her LinkedIn profile:
Browse through your own LinkedIn connections and see what the images say about the people you do business with. If your interested in chatting about your own image feel free to contact me here, I’d love to have a look with you!
