Being a Jersey Girl who grew up in the 80’s I LOVE the band Blondie and of course wanted to be Debbie Harry for most of my youth. There were a few moments when I wanted to be Pat Benatar but other than that…
Debbie Is A Jersey Girl Too
Debbie grew up in Hawthorne N.J. along with the family of my favorite client John Pasquale (@johnnieroxx). She even babysat his brothers. When Heart of Glass released she came back to visit the old neighborhood and had some of the kids over, here’s little Johnnie with Debbie and his autographed record in 1979. What cuties.
Fast Forward To 2012
John is now Director of Sales and Marketing at The Hard Rock Cafe; through different charity connections they invited the New York City ICE Public School to hold their annual benefit at Hard Rock Times Square. The now Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Legend Debbie Harry would be generously performing with the student band to raise money for their program! And I was there to capture it. Amazing.
Here’s the students and Debbie performing “One Way or Another”, so awesome.
Fast Forward Again To 2014
Blondie has a new album out celebrating 40 years of the band, titled “Blondie 4(0) Ever”. It’s a double album with 13 new tracks and a Redux of their greatest hits. Love it all.
I caught another awesome performance of “One Way Or Another” on John Stewart a couple weeks ago:
Still Rocking Out
Blondie continues to rock and Debbie Harry continues to be a vibrant source of creativity for me. Check out my Pinterest Board with the best Debbie images from the last 40 years. Have a look here. Thank you for everything Debbie!
