It’s Friday and I’m flashing you my relationship goods in the form of Fun Facts! It was a year ago today that Tom and woke up, put on somewhat clashing outfits, and rocked up to City Hall at 10 am to get hitched. We were met by my good friend and colleague Alex Kroke to be our sole witness/photographer and we walked out an hour later as Husband and Wife. Exhilarating!
Five Fun Facts about Us
1. We met on E-Harmony
For the decade before we met we lived only 1 mile from each other. Also, I have good friends that “know” (have slept with) his good friends. Did they introduce us? NOOOOOOO. Dr. Neil Clark Warren did. Thank you E-harmony.
2. We showed a LOT of skin on our first date
We met at Penn Station and took the train out to Long Beach for the day. Bravely showing our beach goods up front! I was in my favorite bikini a chocolate brown Malia Mills Raquel Top and Summer of Love Bottoms . (Which Shea the Puppy has since shredded to bits- replacing it would be the perfect Anniversary gift, but does Tom even know I have a blog?)
3. We ethnically profiled each other
Tom has almost exclusively dated Jewish and I’ve been a Italophile since my first Benetton Rugby shirt in Junior High.
4. We broke up in 2011
I thought it was for good. We each did a fair amount of individual soul searching and six months later this happened….
5. Matt Damon convinced us to give it another shot
On a hot August evening just before sundown when neither of us should have been anywhere near Herald Square our bikes crossed paths in the middle of the intersection. I was completely shocked. Tom said he had been wanting to contact me, I had mixed feelings. I left the next day for a week’s vacation in Berlin. On the plane home I sat next to an awesome German woman and we started chatting away becoming fast friends. Since we both enjoy everything Matt Damon we decided to watch “The Adjustment Bureau” during the flight. We LOVED the movie and spent the rest of the flight discussing our own personal “Adjustment Bureau” moments. We decided Tom and I meeting on our bikes was FOR SURE one of those moments and it was “worth a conversation”. Well that conversation led to many more and us eventually getting back together!
Happy first year of married bliss to us!
