This week Tom and I are visiting his father in Naples Florida, and soaking up every second of sun before we return to the polar vortex that is the Northeast this winter! We wake up early and pack the day with running, biking, swimming, kayaking and lounging by the Gulf.
Every single Swimsuit Issue cover since 1955
During our refueling lunch break of hummus wraps and fresh fruit I was perusing the 50th Anniversary Issue of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and taking mental notes of posing I want to integrate for my next beach boudoir shoots. Once my creative juices got flowing I created a Pinterest Board with the BEST of the BEST interior images of the last 50 years. I also included on my board EVERY SINGLE COVER since the first woman in a swimsuit was featured back in 1955 but it really got HOT in 1964 with the first BIKINI gracing the cover!
Who was the only non-model to land the coveted cover?
I discovered that in 50 years there was only one cover that wasn’t a model. Can you guess who it was? The year was 2007…the Photographer was Randall Grant.
Afternoon Beach Activity
In all this research excitement, Tom was excited as well (for obvious reasons) I convinced him that our afternoon activity would be recreating a few of my favorite poses on the beach with my iphone. At first he thought I was joking. We are on one of the most exclusive and CONSERVATIVE beaches in all of Florida. It is also high season for mid-western families and senior citizens. I understood the reluctance that the NYC Italian and Jew were going to stand out even more. Then there was the other issues: he’s not a photographer, he had a detached retina in one eye and he doesn’t use an iphone. It took a little convincing and possibly a bribe concerning dog walking when we return home…but he was IN!
Here’s how I made it happen!
1. I picked out my 3 favorite poses from my Pinterest Board and added them to my camera roll for easy reference on the beach.
2. I put on one of my favorite bikini’s from Malia Mills (unsurpassed quality and fit, made with LOVE in the USA).
3. I recruited a photographer for the shoot. This is a FUN activity and the photographer will have FUN regardless of skill level or image outcome!
Show and Tell:
My best Skylar Diggans (photographed by Adam Franzino). I might have taken the modeling attitude a bit over the top in this one but a good hair toss will always make the shot!
BOOTY is the name of this game. THE Irina Shayk (2011, photographed by Bjorn Iooss) and moi!
I’ll be booking professional beach boudoir shoots for all who are interested this summer, I have 2 locations to announce next month! Sign up for my newsletter if you want the first word.
Stay warm and stay tuned!
