This year while I’m having a mellow New Year’s celebration with some neighbors and our dogs I’ll be reminiscing about New Year’s Eve 2012 when I hit the night FULL ON as a V.I.P!!!!
I was asked to work for my client Hard Rock Cafe right under the ball drop in Times Square to create images for their new sales kit. It’s one of my favorite event venues on any night but this is THE NIGHT. In all my years as a New Yorker I had only experienced the ball drop on television (when I was able to stay awake) and now I was headed there with an exclusive invite!
At 7 pm I passed through security on 43rd street holding my credentials and began shooting the gorgeous set up in the venue. Around 10 pm my husband arrived and we went up to the Marquis overlooking Times Square. The energy level was so high, beyond what I ever imagined and then we looked north at a million plus people lining the streets. It was an endless horizon line of excitement, of course we took a selfie.
I took some more ambience images throughout the venue and we enjoyed the elaborate buffet before heading back out to a private holding pen. 900 guests picked up their coats around 11:30 and we were ushered outside to a huge viewing area directly underneath the ball. It was exceptionally well organized and secure, I don’t love crowds so I was very pleased with my position and the ease.
Below is Director of Sales and Marketing of Hard Rock Cafe (the guy that makes shit happen and keeps me laughing) John Pasquale and his beautiful wife Dawn.
Here Is my view directly under the ball anticipating the countdown!
An experience I can still feel in my body a year later. Grateful for all of it.
Have a Happy and Safe New Year’s Eve 2013!
